A fine and very rare Chinese Export porcelain coffee pot and cover, c.1750. Made for the Turkish market, the conical shaped pot, well painted in underglaze blue, with flowering plants. Curiously painted with two upside down tulips, to either side of the spout - could it be that the Chinese painter at this time, had not seen a tulip, and was working from an engraving? Having a Phoenix head spout, and a handle in the form of Islamic script. The similarly decorated cover, attached to the body, with a Tombak gilt metal mount.
