Rare pair of flowerpot holders in gilt bronze with a polychrome cloisonné enamel decoration. The pots and their handles are adorned with an enamel decoration inspired from Persian motifs with flowers and scrolls. It is completed with an interlacing openwork decoration.
The enamel work constitutes the richness of this pair of flowerpot holders and it illustrates the high mastery level of Ferdinand Barbedienne. The meticulous workmanship and the wide range of colours used to create the Persian decoration are also remarkable. The cloisonné contributes to the decoration by adopting vegetal shape with fine engraving, likewise the interlacing decoration reminding the Oriental influences
