Rare plain Charles II silver lidded porringer London 1668 Edward Gladwin
This good quality Charles II silver covered porringer was made in London in 1668 by Edward Gladwin and measures 6.5 inches tall by 7.25 inches handle to handle and is 4 3/8 inches in dia across the top and 3.75 inches across the base. It has a cast and scrolled handle either side with the body unusually being totally plain apart from pin prick engraving of R above R*M inside a pretty cartouche. The lift off lid has is fully and clearly hallmarked as is the underside of the body. A very nice lidded porringer in very good condition weighing 17.10 ounces or 532 grams.
