Magnificent large Victorian silver serving trowel London 1844 Edward Farrell
This most unusual and magnificent large and crested Victorian silver serving trowel or slice was made In London in 1844 by Edward Farrell and measures 15.75 inches in length by 4.75 inches across the pierced and engraved blade, it has a cast handle with fish scale and flower band decoration and to the top there are 2 female figures in period dress, there is a cast dogs head to the bottom with a cluster of flowers heads and foliage where the handle attaches to the blade. The blade itself is beautifully pierced and engraved and is crested to the reverse where it is also fully and clearly hallmarked. The server is in excellent condition and weighs 8.90 ounces or 277 grams.
