The city of Tabriz in the North West region of Persia has been a major centre of rug weaving since the 14th century and as heir to such a long tradition, no other rug producing region in Persia can claim such a wide array of designs or pattern types.

This subtle, early 20th century Tabriz carpet has rare characteristic usually seen in earlier weavings of the 17th Century. The drawing of this handsome rug is generously spacious in relation to its format. The ivory field tribute the muted array of colour composition, including light blue, faded green and dusty pink, framed by a wide border. All the colours are natural vegetable dyed that have aged nicely.

This Tabriz yet is in very well preserved condition for every day use, still retaining its original plain borders and fringes on all sides.

An elegant example with the versality to blend in a vide variety of spaces.
